Professional Profile

Sergeant with 14 years of sworn service at the Springfield Police Department and six years of supervisory rank across patrol, special victims, and child victim investigations.   • Supervise six investigators on child abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and child death cases, responding to scenes after hours and overseeing interviews, evidence, and autopsies.
  • Serve as acting lieutenant and acting duty commander for the Criminal Investigations Persons Section as needed, fielding calls for units across the section.
  • Strengthened ties with the CAC and Children’s Division and work with the Greene County Prosecutor’s, Juvenile, and Medical Examiner’s Offices.
  • Created and ran an anonymous 360 survey of the unit and a partnership survey of CAC staff in November 2025.
  • Attend the monthly Greene County Multidisciplinary Team and Child Fatality Review meetings, the quarterly CAC stakeholder meetings, and case-specific mini-MDTs.
  • Attended two Missouri Attorney General’s Office meetings on emergency foster placement and contributed a new initiative. Worked with the LAUNCH online education program to streamline law enforcement contact protocols for emergency child abuse cases.
  • Direct SPD’s department-wide rollout of NCMEC’s Missing Kids Readiness Program, based on the Northwestern staff study: all sworn personnel enrolled, training built into the T-4 in-service cycle, and completion tracked with NCMEC.
  • Authored a full revision of SOG 402.4 Missing Persons, split into missing children (aligned to NCMEC’s Law Enforcement Model Policy) and missing adults, with current Missouri statutes and a rebuilt authorization form.
  • Cut forensic interview transcription to minutes through the CAC’s software and secured laptops that let detectives keep working during interviews lasting two to eight hours. Created a CID notification address with City IT for time-sensitive patrol referrals.
  • Replaced a DEVON and Excel workflow with a fillable PDF case disposition system and closure-rate reporting. Produced a 2026 mid-year workload analysis benchmarked against the Prummell staffing study and national suspension and clearance rates.
  • Teach child abuse and sexual assault blocks in the Recruit Academy and MCI School, plus monthly new-member MDT training at the CAC. Built the full MCI School package: slides, instructor guide, eight micro-trainings, and field operations manual.
  • Developed the CVU Update in-service and co-taught it with the CAC and Children’s Division in 21 sessions, with two more sessions of condensed CAC First Contact training.
  • Co-instruct SPD’s Trust Edge training. Authored its 111-slide facilitator deck, co-branded for the City of Springfield.

  • Supervised sexual assault, elder abuse, and missing juvenile investigations and oversaw submission of sexual assault kits to the MSHP laboratory within the 14-day RSMo requirement.
  • Filled in as acting lieutenant, including authorizing SPD news releases on homicide investigations, and served on several occasions as acting duty commander for the Criminal Investigations Persons Section.
  • Supervised the unit’s evidence collection on multiple search warrants.
  • Wrote the 2024 T-1 in-service update on missing juvenile, sexual assault, and elder abuse investigations and taught it in 20 sessions; the 2024 evaluation credits it with reducing the number of outstanding juveniles.
  • Planned briefings for every patrol squad on sexual assault investigations to increase prosecutor filings, organized meetings between new SPD and prosecutor’s office staff, and represented SPD at SART meetings.
  • Took part in the monthly Office on Violence Against Women grant meetings that plan training for SPD and criminal justice partners, and worked with the Victim Center advocate assigned to the unit.

  • Supervised an overnight squad of new officers that became one of the department’s most productive squads within months.
  • Created and ran anonymous 360 surveys of the squad in December 2022 and July 2023.
  • Developed an operations plan with two fellow sergeants that added weekend patrol presence and coordinated patrol, investigative, and support units, leading to the closure of two problem businesses tied to criminal activity.
  • Managed staffing, leave, discipline, and evaluations; commanded critical incidents until relieved.

Resource Management Officer Recruiting and Background Investigations

  • Recruited the 33-member January 2019 academy class, then the largest in department history, which filled all 20 vacancies, ten new positions funded by the Level Property Tax, and three over-hire positions.
  • Supervised about ten background investigators and led the eSOPH implementation, from cost-benefit analysis and sole-source contract to custom workflows, cutting investigation times by more than 30 percent. SPD’s 2021 to 2024 Recruiting Plan credits the software with shortening the application-to-hire timeline to three to six months.
  • Created SPD’s recruiting diversity panel, putting six officers of different backgrounds in front of prospective applicants at public information sessions, and held it twice.
  • Ran direct recruiting events with Missouri State University, including two years of Cops on Campus and a mock crime scene competition with its Criminal Justice Society.
  • Routed applicants through GoSPD.com, a short link to the City’s hiring page, and answered interest cards with template replies; interest card submissions rose 93 percent from 2017 to 2018.
  • Wrote the 2019 Recruitment Summary, SPD’s annual analysis of recruiting results with recommendations for the next year’s plan.
  • Partnered with the Public Affairs Officer to put her SPD in PE program into motion in August 2019, placing officers in seventh-grade PE classes. The program grew from two middle schools to four by February 2020 and was running in five in 2023.
  • Managed background investigation contracts and budgets and made hiring recommendations from completed investigations.
  • Instructed recruits in defensive tactics, firearms, criminal intelligence, and physical fitness.
  • Co-presented two sessions at a 2019 national recruitment conference in Chicago and served on a law enforcement panel at the NAACP state conference.
